Thanks for this. I was using Sipper without a working SipperMedia binary, which was causing a silent hang. Your post just saved me a bunch of time.

The local Sun engineers in Adelaide organised for two ILOM cards to be shipped from spare parts, and once they were installed the machines now boot, and new installs also are bootable.

It's amazing that these machines were allowed to be shipped in a state where you can install the OS but can never boot from it!

I have a similar problem. I have two of those x2270 without ilom. I need to install a fresh OS because I don't want Solaris. Currently they are just sitting there waiting for the ilom to arrive. Very annoying really.

thanks for this. your photos are great - really clear. i've been making sour dough bread at home for a few months now. i love the process. kind of slow, but very flexible. i like that the dough is so much more resilient than regular yeast bread. want to experiment with sour dough fruit loaf. i'll post pics when i do.
cheers, kate

set /SP/SystemInfo/CtrlInfo BootCtrl=BIOSSetup

Will boot into the BIOS. No need for pressing F2.
Yes this is a very finicky server.
