I now pretty much regret having upgraded my 3GS to iOS 5 as it’s so incredibly sluggish now, and the Camera app freezes up frequently.

Yes Bill, I’d like to see see it rendered like that too, with the time to the right of the date. Feel free to modify the source and post it :-) It uses absolute positioning in the CSS so pretty straightforward, just a bit fiddly.

One suggestion re the date. I like to see dates in ISO format; viz.:

yyyy-mm-dd.

So, for example, today is rendered as 2011-11-26.

My 3gs did exactly the same thing.. ended up hanging, then died completely with error. Then I reconnected it – got the pop up asking if I wanted to continue – I said no and it just wen about doing a normal sync which seems to be ok. Then I upgraded my iPad 1 and had similar problems.. though with that one in the end the restore completed. Again – seemed to completed ok, though I notice my ebooks have all lost their covers. People go on about Apple being so much more stable, but to be honest I have not had a single upgrade which has not been problematic in some way.

John – interesting. My apple ID is an email address (and not under an Apple domain). So I think our issues probably unrelated. It does look like there are many and various failure modes with this iOS 5 upgrade though!

Did you have to enter an email address on your iPhone to associate with your appleid? (my apple id was only xxxxxx rather than xxxxxx@yyyy.zzzz). This seemed to cause iTunes to lock and I had to restart. Though it seems to be restoring correctly after the restart. May the security issue is related to the iTunes login.

Thanks for this. I was using Sipper without a working SipperMedia binary, which was causing a silent hang. Your post just saved me a bunch of time.
